Help Pass the Bear Protection Act!
Wild bear populations are under attack by poachers feeding the international black market trade in bear parts. But Congress can help. H.R. 5534, the Bear Protection Act, would prohibit the import, export, and interstate commerce of bear viscera such as the gallbladder and bile.
Introduced by Reps. Raul M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and John Campbell (R-CA), H.R. 5534, the Bear Protection Act, would make it easier for the overwhelming majority of states that already ban the sale of bear parts to enforce those laws. Bear poachers and gallbladder smugglers take advantage of the current patchwork of state laws and often avoid prosecution or conviction as a result. A uniform national standard on this issue is vital.

Please co-sponsor H.R. 5534 and support federal legislation to stop poachers from illegally killing U.S. bears so their parts can be sold on the international black market.
H.R. 5534 would provide strong federal support for the overwhelming majority of states that already ban commercialization of bear parts. Wild American bears are being slaughtered for their gallbladders and bile, which are either sold domestically or illegally exported for the traditional folk remedy trade.
I strongly urge you to stop poachers from wiping out our American bear populations and cruelly slaughtering bears just to sell their parts.
